Welcome to the 1st Masonic District Website. What an exiting and busy year we have had to date, with more excitement and events to come. I would like to update you on the coming events and activities of the 1st Masonic District. The biggest news is - Brother Jay W. Smith RWDGM from Ashara- Casiphia Lodge No. 551 will be installed as the next Right Worshipful Grand Master of Pennsylvania on December 27th, 2011 in Hershey, Pa. Details below.
The up coming activities of the 1st masonic District are as follows:
- Open Installation of Officers in all Lodges at their December Stated Meetings, The public is welcome to come out and witness this beautiful work. Lodge Schedules are posted on our Google calender on this site.
- Grand Lodge Quarterly Communication to be held at the Grand Lodge in Philadelphia, Pa. on December 7, 2011 at 10:00 am. Come and join us.
- Grand Lodge Annual Communication to be held at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center, Hershey, Pa. December 27, 2011. Open installation ( Open to the public) of Brother Jay W. Smith, as Right Worshipful Grand Master and the other Grand Lodge Officers. Installation to start at 10:00 a.m. A lunch will follow at 12:00 noon ( the lunch is free but you will need a ticket). A reception will be held at at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. Advanced tickets required. See your Lodge Officers or the D.D.G.M. for tickets.
- All of the Lodges in the District will be recognizing all of their new members from the past five years at their respective January Stated Meetings. Come out and welcome all of the new members.
- The new R.W.G.M. Brother Jay W. Smith will be holding his first official meeting with his home Ashara- Casiphia Lodge No. 551 on January 10th, 2012 7:00 p.m. at the Masonic Center of Lancaster County.
- The Officers Workshop for the W.M., S.W.,J.W., and Lodge Secretaries will be held January 14th, 2012 at the Masonic Center of Lancaster County starting at 8:00 a.m. Deacons are welcome to come to this too.
- The next District Blood Drive will be held on June 9th, 2012 at the Masonic Center of Lancaster County and The Donegal Masonic Center from 9:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. Please participate for this great cause.
I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank everyone who participated and helped make the One Day Masonic Journey in our District on October 22nd, 2011 a HUGE Success. Through your hard work and dedication we were able to recognize a large number of new members into this Great Organization. Over and over again the 1st Masonic District proves that with hard work and dedication we can accomplish almost anything. Again thanks for your dedication.

Bro. Larry A. Derr, Past Master of Casiphia Lodge No. 551, Mount Joy, Pennsylvania was appointed District Deputy Grand Master of the First Masonic District in December 2008. The First Masonic District consists of nine lodges with approximately 3200 members. Brother Derr was raised January 11, 1974 in Casiphia Lodge. He resides in the Mount Joy area with his wife, Rochelle, and they are proud parents of a son Dustin.
